You should be able to set it by:
Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Sound & Notifications > Notifications Tab
Select “Messaging: New Text Message” in the “Event” dropdown
Put a check next to “Vibrate”
Press OK

does it happen vibrate if you get a text message and the Epix isnt in sleep mode? .. man Samsung really has to fix their notification problems, its killing this phone.
I can't imagine how corporate power users (whom I'd assume is a huge target for the Samsung Epix) could deal with all the notification issues — i miss so many text messages and e-mail even with the hacks.

I finally figured it out after messing around with it for a few hours. I just had to make sure under sounds and notifacations the programs and notifacations boxes are checked off. I feel so stupid that it was this simple but really samsung made the process more difficult than it needed to be…

Ack! I've read all the forums and I still can't get this to work. Can someone post the instructions?
I did what e-10 said, and unchecked the programs and notif. I also made sure the New Text Message was set to Vibrate. No love.
As david said, I'm a corporate user and need those vibrates. I did those reg edits to set it to 6 and/or 14, still nothing.
Any help is totally welcome.
