My new Epix won't turn the backlight off when it's on AC power. This is in addition to the phone locking up when the backlight is supposed to do dim when its running on battery power. I have tried playing with all the settings and the problem still exists. Only way to keep from locking up is to either have the backlight never time out, or keep it running on AC power all the time….
Samsung says to send it in for repair and it will take 2 weeks… is that my only option?

long_dong, I'm assuming you bought you Epix over 30 days ago, right? :T
If all your power-saving settings are correct, the only thing i can think of would be to try reformatting your Epix and see if that fixes anything … Make sure to back up everything you want to save on your phone before performing a format of course.

reformat does not do anything, unfortunately. it sounds like it will have to be repaired. i bought it on ebay so i am going to try to return it to the seller. hopefully this is not a widespread issue…

Well it looks like the problem may have been with my SDHC card. I took it out of the phone and the lockups went away. I was never able to get the phone to see the SDHC card anyway, but I suspect it may be because the card was somewhat old (over 1 year old) and was not compatible for some reason. I ordered a couple 8GB Kingston cards from newegg, I think they will arrive today, so I will try them out and see if the problem comes back.

And yes I hard reset multiple times before I had the idea to remove the SDHC card, hard reset did not do me any good at all
