Hi,

I recently got an Epix and I'm attempting to use it with Tmobile's prepaid program, with no data plan.  For only $15/mo I get unlimited texting, plus whatever else the phone can do on its own.  That's why I got an Epix.

But i'm having some trouble with a lot of the functions and I think it might be because a data plan is needed for some of these things even though it shouldn't be.

For example, I can't send MMS multimedia texts.  My Tmobile plan allows it, and I called their customer service.  They said it's because of my phone.  They said if I had a simpler/regular phone I would be able to send pictures with my texts.  But this phone (and most smartphones) require a data plan to send MMS messages.  Is that true?

Another example… I can't seem to get the GPS to connect to any GPS satellites.  I've downloaded Google Maps and it has some functionality when I'm on wifi, but it can't connect to a GPS signal.  And when I'm not on wifi, I get zippo on google maps.  So do I need a data plan  to get my GPS to work??  Shouldn't GPS work even if I don't have a data connection?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!  I'm wondering if there are others out there using the GPS and MMS without a data plan, and if so, how did you do it?
