When I close an application by hitting the X or OK button, the Expix does not completely close the application. It does not show it on the screen, but it is still running. I confirm this via task manager. Is there a setting or hack that changes this?

thats generally by design and is application code-dependent. Thats means by “original WindowsMobile code guidelines” the programs just flip to the background, and the kernel of windowsMobile “decide” which programs are killed to free-up RAM again (usually 'last-used-first'). The purpose behind is fast response-time and OLE/data-exchange between several programs (i.e. embedding into an appointment somebody's adress from the CONTACTS which then also allows to look it up via MSN LIVE or GOOGLE MAPS or similar system).

But programmers can explicitly code that instead of “ok” (switch-into-background) it's a “X” which usually(!!!) closes the app, but not always – its a by-design-thing.
