Could you please let me know how to block GPRS/3G?

I've been used an unlocked epix for my t-mobile. I frequently found that conncting GPRS.3G is shown on the dispay, which is kind of wasting power even if I set up “Wake up”. So this function is of no use.

At the startup screen type *#1546792*#, then go to network mode and click on GSM only.  This will stop it from searching for 3G
