Welcome to MySamsungEpix.com's Samsung Epix Forums! The forums are a place for you to talk about all things Samsung Epix.
To use these forums you do not have to register (guest users can post and read) but you can if you want.
Just a couple general rules:
- Please be civil and stay on topic. Flaming others, while entertaining for you, is usually boring to the rest of the forum's users.
- Don't upload illegal files as attachments to posts. If you want to talk about files that have questionable legal status, please host them someplace else (rapidshare.com, etc) . You are responsbile for the content you post.
- If you're posting long URLs, make a tinyURL out of them, otherwise it tends to mess up he layout of the forum.
- As in all things, use common sense.
Generally the forum rules are pretty lax, so please don't abuse them

Thanks David.
I am considering the epix or the blackjack.
And of course,
my obvious pick is the epix but i am a little worried about the whole mouse pad thing.
And i was wondering how it works for you.
Thanks.

Jack,
I assume you're looking at choosing a Epix or a Blackjack II (rather than a Blackjack – 1st generation) .. It's actually a pretty tough call if you ask me. When the Epix was first rumored and then announced I was incredible psyched. It seemed to have everything that I wished the Blackjack II had.
I finally broke down and got an Epix. It is very similar in size and style to the Blackjack II (the Epix is alittle heavier and thicker, but I don't even notice it anymore).
The one thing i've been disappointed about when it comes to the Epix is its much harder to use with one hand. The Blackjack II I can use almost all basic functionality using one hand. The Epix I find, not so much — You can use the Epix one handed using the Optical Mouse, but for me its alot slower to navigate than using Blackjack II's D-Pad/Scrollwheel. Im currently using the Epix's Optical Mouse in 4-way D-Pad mode and I like it alot better than the Optical Mouse mode. Also, the touch-screen is nice but it doesn't seem sensitive enough.
… Honestly, I'd have to say it comes down to if you prefer using your phone w one hand or two.
Prolly not too big of a help, but atleast some food for thought

Jack, ah – sorry! You can use the optical mouse as a 4-way D-Pad. Its alittle unique in how it works: you slide your thumb across the optical mouse in the direction you want to move and click the optical mouse to select. It's alittle slower than clicking in the direction you want to move using a conventional click-based D-Pad.
Congrats on the Samsung Epix! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the phone!

This forum is like a godsend! I had gotten my epix at such a good deal that I couldnt pass it up. I switched from a Blackberry pearl so I'm not too familiar with the windows mobile side of things. This site offers all the programs and tips to bring the best out of the device and the forum solves any questions I have.
Keep up the good work David,
E-10

Hello there!
I just ordered an Epix and haven't even received it yet, but I am very anxious! Anxious in a good, anticipating way, but at the same time, a little concerned from what I saw on the AT&T forum.
I am not a newbie to a PDA, I have had many Palms – starting with a IIIxe, Z22, and TX, but of course, a complete newbie to the Epix. For every new device I get, I like to absorb it it small, digestible pieces, so to speak. So, I'm reading as much as I can.
I really, really want to have a great experience with the device. I'm perusing the site fior advice, hacks, and fixes, but I'm wondering what advice forum members might have on things to do right away that will help known bugs (the standby / freeze thing), etc…
My hope is to have that great experience…if not (well, not to be negative, just a backup plan)…I can probably exchange it for a BlackJack II. But I would only cross that bridge if I had to…
Any advice would be appreciated!
