Hey everyone. Stupid question from the technologically deprived. I have an unlimited Data and text plan with ATT for a standard phone that is currently due for an upgrade. I had originally decided on the BJ2, and at only 15 dollars more a month, it seemed great. Upon seeing the Epix, I cancelled my order and set my sights on the new phone. Much to my chagrin, the ATT operator told me that it would end up costing much more per month than even the BJ2, putting it out of my reach. Is this typical? I had figured, with the same features, that the plan would cost the same as the BJ2. I'm trying to get this thing settled tonight, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all

as far as I know the unlimited data plan is 30 bucks. that is standard for all pda/smartphones. I have family text so i dont know how much that costs individually. I would go to the att site and compare service rates between the two. att is probably doing the usual try to get all the money out of you as possibile routine. but, if you know what you are talking about you can talk your way out of almost anything the overcharge you on.

it depends on whom you're buying it from, I know that AT&T lets you grandfather from your old contract into your new one w/o changes; BUT you may end up paying more initially for your Epix phone, but the monthly fees are the same.
It happened to me too, I researched that WALMARTs subcontractor allowed me to get me the phone for 100 bucks; but i had to pay roughly35 bucks per month MORe since they did not allow to grandfather in from my old contract, they'd force me to enter a new contract w. new conditions. AT&T wanted more up-front cash for the Epix, but i was able to keep my old contract.
Bottomline, i paid 200 bucks more upfront, but I'd have the money “returned” within half a year, considering i pay only 19 bucks for unlimited internet and unlimited messaging (yes, I'm w. AT&T that long! ) and frankly – in average i've 5,000 to 6,000 left-over minutes built-up from the roll-over; since i primarily use my Epix for file downloads, webbrowsing, video and audio lifestreams and email, i'm rarely longer than 5 minutes on the phone
cheers

Interesting… Should I mention this grandfather clause thing, or will they willingly divulge such information?? I”m terrible with this kind of stuff, if you haven't noticed from my 2 previous posts.

well, If you're “eglible for a phone upgrade”(as i was) then you automatically “grandfather in”, PROVIDING they are not trying to get you on different/additional “plan-features”. You've to check/watch out what your actual contract says before you sign it.
they tried with me to get me hooked for that IMHO crappy AT&T navigator thing, roadside asisstance and what-not. If they say that you “want” those “initial free trials” to get the Epix cheaper for you, thats ok, but make sure, that you keep track of the time progressing, so you can cancel them in due time before they start charging you.
