Hi,
Just tried it tonight and it works perfectly. I had my micro sd card in my BJII and then I bought Epix and when I put my card into the Epix it asked me if I want to install it. All you need to do is change the port to com9 (serial Interface) and it will get satellietes ASAP.

I've a question, (serioulsy, not a mockery/flame) what does GarminXT have that Google Maps has not, to warant a 100 USD/100 EUD pricetag? And does it require a subscription to access online-based data? (the AT&T GPS thingy does for 10 USD/month)

I don't use garmin XT myself, but i think a huge draw (for some users) is it doesn't use data — all the maps are stored on your storage card. This is crucial for people that don't have unlimited data plans.

AT&T been there done that, Google Maps requires 3G data no turn-by-turn voice. Yes advantage of Garmin XT is you don't have a monthly bill. Localized data in microSDHC. I tried also IGo8 but alittle more complicated to install (I had a hitch in the resolution and did not want to explore further)

actually, that's incorrect, google maps works even with just EDGE or GPRS even (although under GPRS it has some timing-issues between aGPS-offload and retrieving the map-data from google). What i like on google maps is (beside being free) that you can look up any business, address, phone # related to it and household addresses by name, and its (mostly) up to date thanks to the CIA type II database (yes the secret service agency's “public” database )

I wouldn't buy Garmin XT until they unbundle it from their 2GB card.
I loaded TomTom Navigator 6 onto both of my 8GB cards so that I can change music whenever I want and don't have to reinstall the GPS software. there are really complex hacks to get Garmin onto your own card but it can take hours to execute successfully and not everyone manages to do it successfully.
I also use Google for the search but there is no way that I would use it because it doesn't do tunr by turn voice guidance. Eyes on the road for me.

was in seattle a couple weeks ago and used both garmin xt and google maps. xt is ok and it giving directions is nice, i found on the highways it was better suited to my needs. but when we were downtown i found google maps was much easier. google helped us find a couple restaurants which was handy.
all in all they both serve their purpose, but i would not pay any money for xt and google maps does a very good job considering it free

How did you get TT6 to work. I just tried it and it did not recognize the internal GPS. When I connected the extrnal GPS receiver, it would start connecting , i.e. recognizing the receiver, but did not “see” any satellites. Even though I was outdoors
