From what I have heard Windows mobile 6.5 will not be available on the Epix and there is not a phone that is out that will run windows mobile 6.5

Yeah I've heard the same too, kind of disappointed that they are currently saying it will only be on new phones that aren't out yet. But then they said about the same when WM6 came out too. Then after many months they finally had an office release for it for the BJII and there are lots of cooked roms out there for the BJI. So maybe if we are lucky they'll make us an official rom too, or maybe somebody will make us a cooked rom that will work even better.

I’ve looked around for minimum system requirements for Windows Mobile 6.5 and haven’t been able to find any. Do we know if the Samsung Epix is CAN’T run Win Mob 6.5 or just that it wont be released for the Epix. If the Epix has the horsepower to run Windows Mobile 6.5 I have a sneaking suspicion that Samsung/AT

from what I've read on the hardware I would say that the Epix is capable to run WM6.5.. I mean 624MHz processor and 150MB of Ram, I was under the impression that it's pretty impressive… not familar with moblie phones so I'm not sure
unless there's just features it couldn't use for whatever reason, but I really believe that if it didn't come to the Epix then it would be because they want you to buy a new phone to get some more money o.O

Once Windows Mobile 6.5 officially comes out sometime this summer/fall, just wait about a month or two for a cracked ROM for the Epix to come out.
The Epix is definitely capable of runing WM 6.5, the specs are impressive, it has decent GPU performance for the new eye candy and it has the all-important start menu flag button that 6.5 devices are required to have.

From what i was told (the comapy I work for does alot of business with M$ and Samsung) there is not a phone out yet that will run 6.5 it is due to a button that is going to be required on the phone that no current phones have I dont think it is do to the CPU or memory.

Yeah I thought the button they said that was required was just a windows key button, which the Epix has. I bet it's just like when 6 was coming out, they said phones weren't going to be able to do it, like the BJ I, but there's a nice cooked rom out for the BJ I and it's even WM 6.1. I'm not saying I'm excited and it's definitely going to be on the Epix, but I wouldn't be surprised if I can get it on my phone soon after the release.
Now when I say soon, I mean soon in AT&T terms, so like half a year or so after WM 6.5 comes out. You know you can't rush these things.

The Epix will not “officially” support 6.5 because Microsoft says no current devices will support it, but I am sure after a month or two some dev will cook a 6.5 ROM for the Epix. Infact, there's a higher probability of it being ported than not being ported – it will just take some time.
There is no reason the Epix can't from a hardware standpoint: high-speed 624mhz processor, decent GPU capabilities and a hardware start button!

Not exactly……Windows 6.5 beta is out and has been for a few weeks. I've been using it in a ATT Tilt (HTC Kiieser) It works pretty good and is much more finger friendly. Whether it will be available for the epix….who knows. Most WM phones have pretty good ROM cookers out there….maybe Epix will be popular enough for the kitchens to cook up some tweaked roms for us. I will be getting my epix this week and am looking forward to it.

i would love to see if a cooked wm6.5 rom would fix any of the bizarre notification and power management wm6.1 has with the epix.
im starting to loathe that i can't get a consistent and indefinite LED alert for my epix when i get a sms/email/missed call.
