Zenyee Notif Blinker
Direct Download (Download Page)
Zenyee Notif Blinker fixes a rather annoying bug that the Samsung Epix ships with: The Epix’s missed call/SMS/E-mail LED light notification stops “blinking” when the Epix enters “sleep mode”. Notif Blinker keeps the LED blinking for a preset amount of time (15, 30, 60, or 120 mins).
To configure Notif Blinker’s settings you must launch the File Explorer and navigate to: /Program Files/Zenyee/Notif Blinker and run Notif Blinker Config.exe (I’m not sure why Zenyee didn’t make a shortcut in the Start menu to this config utility but he didn’t.)
Also, for Zenyee to operate correctly, you must tell Windows Mobile not to manage the LED for the notifications you want Zenyee to manage.
- Start > Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications
- Uncheck “Flash light for” for the notifications you want Zenyee to control
Sam noted in the comments “for those that disable Windows Notification (the above step) and still can’t get the program to work, you will also have to select NotifBlinker on the drop down menu in Notification and check “Flash Light”.
Below are the Notif Blinker LED Index slider values:

- Off
- Red
- Green
- Blue
- Yellow
- Purple
- Aqua
- White
- Off
- Off
- Off
To restart Notif Blinker just click on Start > Programs > Notif Blinker and follow the on-screen instructions.

I can’t wait to try Notif Blinker on my EPIX when I get home later. I am skeptical, however, because my EPIX will stop blinking before the phone even goes into standby. I can even block the phone from going into standby at all(at least I think I am… the backlight and everything stays on), and it will still stop blinking after about 10 seconds. Hopefully this will override it all and turn my phone into that proverbial Xmas Tree.

I have no idea how to install this program onto my phone. I transferred/extracted all 5 files into my “personal” folder in My Documents on my phone. Then I opened the “install” file from my phone and it loaded within an Internet Explorer window. I then pushed “ok” to close the window. I sent myself a text msg, but the LED still only blinks for 10 seconds, then stops. I tried a soft reset, to see if it would maybe make the changes effective… but still no go. So either 1) I didn’t install it properly or 2) my EPIX is beyond repair. Any suggestions?

I was able to install the .cab file onto my phone. It still will not make my EPIX blink longer than 10 seconds. I even editted the registry to change the color to “2.” How do I access the user interface? The only icon I see is in the Programs section, and if I click it, it pops up the “there is already an instance of blinker notif running..” Sigh, I think my EPIX is beyond repair.

joe – I’ve updated the version of Notif Blinker on MySamsungEpix.com – uninstall the version you have installed and re-install using the version now available at the Download link above.

i just installed it. i guess i will have to wait till i get an email or text to see if it works like i want it too.
so far everything ive downloaded from this site works perfectly, thanks!

Thanks for replying… I already had the newest version installed. Anyhow, I uninstalled, and then reinstalled according to the above link. I used your directions to open the user interface. Everything is properly installed and settings properly checked. My EPIX will still only blink for about 10 seconds, then stop. It is stopping before the phone goes into standby… before the backlight even goes off. My EPIX is still beyond repair.

Well, ahem…. apparently my phone just needed a “soft reset”. It now turns into a maniacal Xmas tree upon receiving a txt msg. Still working on getting it to notify me of missed calls… but I’m happy!

I was having problems too. My phone would flash for a few seconds and then stop even with this program loaded. I tried a soft-reset but still it wouldn’t work. I finally noticed that when the light did flash after receiving a text that there were multiple colors. It wasn’t just the color that I had picked from this program. I went into Settings->Sounds & Notifications and unchecked “Flash light for” on the notifications I wanted and now everything is working great. The light continues to flash untilI acknowledge the missed call, text messages etc. It appears that there was a resource contention over the notification light and Windows was “winning”. Turning Windows off seemed to fix the problem for me.
Thanks for the great fix to this annoying problem.

I am frustrated. I followed instructions, which seem to be incomplete. I can not get notif blinker to perform the actions it was designed to do.
Is there anything else we are supposed to do to make this thing work…..
December 12th, 2008 at 6:11 am
Robert,
I’m sorry to hear youre frustrated. Did you successfully install Notif Blinker and verify that it is running? What exactly isn’t working for you on your Samsung Epix?

December 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
ok i really need help…… whenever i get a text message while my phone is in sleep mode it does alert me when in vibrate mode….. i know that they have a bug or whatever….is there an app i can get so it vibrates when i get a text while in “vibrate mode” ???? plzzzz help
December 17th, 2008 at 3:24 am
daniel, i think you mis-typed something in there. are yous saying when your Samsung Epix is set to “Vibrate” and when it enters sleep mode, the phone does NOT vibrate when you receive a text? Are you sure you set the Receive Text Message notification setting in Settings > Notifications to vibrate?
December 17th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
david, yes sorry i did a type-o …..i do not recieve alerts when my epix goes into sleep mode whether its in loud or vibrate mode. its really annoying and i need to know when i get text messages or emails…. what should i do for this situation
December 31st, 2008 at 5:39 am
I followed the steps provided above when i go to restart the notification from the programs file i get a notice saying “an instance of Notif blinker is running, do you want to quit the instance, and the options say hide or exit” whats up?
December 31st, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Darren,
To restart zenyee tap the icon and then select “exit” when presented with the dialog “an instance of Notif blinker is running, do you want to quit the instance…” — This will stop Zenyee from running. Then tap the icon again to start zenyee back up.

Great, thanks for this app. Have you run across any apps or reg hacks that work on the epix which will repeat the ’sound’ of the notification and not just the ‘led’ of the notification?
January 9th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Dan, everything I find that doesn’t suck I post on this site
Please e-mail me suggestions (my e-mail is at the bottom of every page) if you find a cool app/hack/etc. you think everyone will enjoy.
January 24th, 2009 at 6:06 am
i cannot find how to get the notification application to open so that i can choose which functions it performs and the colors of the flashes. how does that work?
January 24th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
even when i change the settings in sounds and notifications to not flash light it will still flash the purple light for 10 seconds then it will stop but the custom blue light still works. Is something wrong or does this always happen
January 25th, 2009 at 12:13 am
This worked GREAT for me!! It does make the phone look like a freaked out Christmas tree but I don’t care as long as i have a way to see if I missed a call or email.
THANKS!!
January 28th, 2009 at 2:03 am
for those that disable windows notification and still can’t get the program to work, you will also have to select NotifBlinker on the drop down menu in notification and check the flash light. it works for me now. hope that helps
February 1st, 2009 at 7:36 pm
I installed it on my Samsung Epix and when I click on it, I get the message” another instance of Notif blinker is running” , I click in exit and then tap on the Icon again and it makes a sound and then nothing happens,, and it I click on the Icon again, then the message appears again the another instance is running. I assume when I click on it the first time the application is launched but I dont see any window to set up my preferences.
Can you please help ?
Thanks

D.Bhagat – you are correct. Pressing the icon one will start Zenyee, pressing it again will prompt you to close it. THis is how you can turn the application on and off. To get to the settings follow the directions in the post – you will have to use the File Explorer on your Samsung Epix to locate and run the Notif Blinker Config.

Does any one know how to set this Notif Blinker for different LED colors, i.e: email=red, text message=blue, etc…. Mine only shows ONE LED color for all events. Thanks.
February 28th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Well i was able to have this work on my phone, for the most part anyway. Text works great, the problem I have is with the Email. I have Hotmail and Outlook. I can get it to work for one or the other by changing my notifications. I opted to have my Outlook work. I have not had a chance to see if missed call works, I’m sure it does.
March 3rd, 2009 at 3:16 am
Never mind stopped working consistent. worked for 2 days, now it works here and there.
March 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 am
I installed ebvrything correctly and setup evrything including selecting the option in the drop down menu. but it still doesnt work correctly. and another thing, i dont have the “to flash light” option in the sounds and notifications area.
March 3rd, 2009 at 2:31 pm
Ray – you remove the monitoring of notifications in Start > Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications ? You cant have Windows Mobile try to control the notifications if you want Zenyee to control them.
March 5th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Well, i looked, and all that i can see for notification options under that menu is sounds. It says ” Enable sounds for:” and then it has some check boxes for random stuff. after all thats left to enable is sounds for screen taps and hardware buttons. no light option
March 5th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
and under the notifications tab i do have the dropdown menu that i set up for notif blinker
March 5th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
never mind. i fixed it. thanks
March 24th, 2009 at 5:35 am

March 31st, 2009 at 4:47 pm
I setup my outlook account but the problem that i am having is when i try to send mail or receive it comes back and says to check coverage and setup options. I have gone over and over and everything is setup right. Can you help me.
April 28th, 2009 at 2:55 am
How do you start it off anyways??????????????????????????????????????????
May 1st, 2009 at 3:18 am
The program worked perfectly until the phone goes in standby. Then the LED blinks but the backlight to the keyboard stays on as well. I have backlight set to come on while not in standby between 6:00pm and 7:00am. Any suggestions besides taking the setting off the backlight.
May 2nd, 2009 at 4:15 am
Too buggy to be usefull.
when an alert comes through the light flashes spastically, then after you view your message, and there are no more msgs, the light still flashes for 5 or 10 minutes after the message is read. sometimes the keyboard light hangs (stays on) requiring a power down to reset.
Good intention, really appreciated effort but needs more work before being placed in the public domain.

I was tickled to death to get this download. Worked perfectly for a few days. Then it just stopped working. I re-installed twice, uninstalled, deleted, re-downloaded and re-installed. Again, worked for a few days and then stopped. *sigh* I am really beginning to regret this phone! I have never had a phone that I was so dissappointed in. About the only thing saving this phone from the trash can is I really love the optical mouse.
June 6th, 2009 at 2:04 am
ok I dnt have zenyee on my phone how can I get it there?
June 20th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
I don’t get how to change the colors of the flash.
July 30th, 2009 at 9:04 am
How do I install this software on the Epix? Is there a install tutorial here how to install this software?
Do I dowload the software directly on the phone or do I download it to the computer desktop and run from there?
I’ve never installed a software on to my cellphones before.
August 28th, 2009 at 3:36 am
we all know that the samsung has quite a range of LED colors – question is now, natively the Epix uses different LED-colors (red, blue, green, yellow, aqua, white, purple) for different events (i.e. purple for SMS/text, RED for voicemail/missed call, blue for bluetooth trigger, green for WIFI trigger and so on) – is there a way to reassign different colors for different events ?
October 13th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
Downloaded…now when I get a text message it only vibrates no sound,,checked all the settings.. the lights work great tho, any ideas
October 28th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Novel idea, I’m hoping to find out a solution to the bugs, because I would love to have a better light features.
Question, along with a previous poster, I do not have “flash light” option in notifications menus, so by this logic my phone AND this program are trying to run my LED notificaions, is this specific to certain software revisions?
One text message notification looks great, but as soon as there was a missed call it negated all LED colors.
Also, how do you define a different color for each action? Or am I going to have 1 color for every alert?
Very good concept, I’m hoping i can iron out the little bugs and make it work.
Thanks
