Slide 2 Unlock 2 (S2U2) is a very neat little application that adds iPhone-esque unlocking to your Samsung Epix. S2U2 also includes Caller ID (check if it works on Epix) and Volume Control.

To change the defauly wallpaper:

  1. Create a 320×320 jpeg file with the new wallpaper image and name it “wallpaper.jpg”.
  2. Copy it to the gfx folder (default is \Program Files\s2u2\gfx\)
  3. Restart iLock2 (Run Start > Programs > S2U2 > iLock2 twice, the first time will stop it, the second time will re-launch it).

For S2U2 to operate correctly on the Samsung Epix, you have to modify its settings as follows (big thanks to sfleuriet at HoFo for the settings):

how do you creat a jpeg file?

  2. david Says:

bob, you can make one in Photoshop or you can use GIMP (which is a free product that is very similar to Photoshop) to create JPEG files … There are tons of Image manipulation programs out there that will let you resize existing photos and save them as JPEGs — Search on Google.

    This is an awesome app!

  4. Steve Says:

Seems like it cannot be used with SPB Shell.

Seems like a lot of work to do just to have an app……

  5. Joel Says:

I’ve had mixed results with this. Too bad MS can’e make a mobile Os with convenient and flexible locking. There are times I can’t unlock my phone when a call comes in and a notification pops up. I have to remove the battery to unlock the phone.

  6. Mark Says:

There are more options now with this application. Just installed it so I’m going to give it a try… so far looks good. Also take a look at the media player from the same site its pretty sweet to.

  7. david Says:

Mark – keep us posted if its stable on your Samsung Epix. I took it off mine because i was running into some quirky behavior that I *think* was because of S2U2, though im not 100% sure.

  8. Anthony Says:

I installed the program and changed all the settings that needed to be changed , but it is still not working for me. What am I doing wrong? Could someone please help me out.

  9. Anthony Says:

Never mind after toying with it for a little bit, I finally got it to work. Cool app, is there anyway to get the iphone theme for the today menu.

  10. April Says:

what i don’t like is that when i lock my Epix, it still takes a bit for the app to kick in. once it does, then i still have to unlock the Epix through Windows! grrr!
or am i just doing something wrong?

  11. Eric Says:

    I have 1 little problem.
When I try to wake it up by pressing the power button, the screen flashes (shows the screen for a split second) and goes back to being off. Then if I press the power button one more time, the screen comes on like normal. Any ideas why it’s doing this?

We have a bigger problem lol
The download link is broken, when i click on download now im getting the following on Multiple computers.

    Not Found
The requested URL /S2U2-index.html was not found on this server.

So what do i do now

The best way to followup on the quality of your internet connectin is to have a speedometer download. This will give you an idea how fast your connection is.

    Problems:
    1. Within some seconds after going to standby the volume keys are pressed, and the Epix wakes up. No matter how S2U2 is configured.
    2. Without “don’t suspend power” the Zenyee notif blinker is not blinking the LED.
    3. Visual artifacts around the mouse cursor in all 3 graphics modes.
    4. Sometimes incoming calls are not displayed, device does not wake up. When pressing the power button, it wakes up, starts ringing and stops immediately. The calling number is not saved to the call log, only a strange empty entry, so it is not possible to figure out who called.
    5. Sometimes the device crashes or switches off completely. When the power button is pressed, restarts like if the battery were removed.

Cool stuff, very useful, but makes the Epix a little unreliable :(
