I’m going to do something out of character and say some nicities about a Microsoft product that isn’t an OS: Windows Media Player 10 Mobile isn’t half bad. The version 10, which is installed by default on the Samsung Epix, has a fairly clean, simple interface and plays my mp3s pretty well (very rate that they skip/stutter). As a music player it performs well enough.

And that’s where the nicities end. As you’d expect, Microsoft has crippled Windows Media Player 10 so it only supports a handful of  Video and Audio file formats. If your video files aren’t WMV you probably have better luck playing the lottery than getting them to play properly in Windows Media Player 10.

Which leads me to TCPMP, the best media player fo the Samsung Epix out there. It supports a ton of video and audio formats, is highly customizable/tweakable and best of all its FREE! The only downside would be its rather spartan look (which some people may actually prefer I suppose).

I’ve never gotten this program to run successfully on my Epix. Is this a recompiled version that will actually run? Winvibe (or another program) remove/messed with the mp3 codec the phone needs to ring so that I had no ring! I did a hard reset, held my breath, and all works again. It’s scary having a phone that relies on a MicroSloth product! Sigh. Hope this works better. Thanks.

I love this app!!! It allowed me to load any video file and play it seemlessly. The only issue I have with it is with using the camera. When taking a pic, what format is it done in? I ask becasue now with this app, all pics are using it. This makes it difficult to send it MMS or email. If I could change the file association for just pictures, which setting would I uncheck? Thanks!!!!

Has any one got the equalizer enabled without distoring the sound? I like to increase the Bass and treble a bit. Thanks.

I realize this is not about winvibe, but for those looking for a new player CAUTION WITH WINVIBE – as a previous person stated, it screws up your phone. You can no longer choose a ringer and you phone will no longer ring!

WINVIBE could be nice, but it is worthless if it kills your ringer.

I had issues with TCPMP like already noted here. Microfi Nitrogen is a free player and there is even a version that supports 320×320 screen. I have used it for about a month now. Easier on battery than Win Media player and it has working equalizers with no distortion hooray!! Very touch screen freindly too. supports several file typs including wma, mp3, and others.
